So, here I am – getting real. My first blog post on the webpage of my own company. Why did it took me so long to get real? To stop playing business and actually start doing and building my own business? To create a service I love to deliver? To follow a mission I love to follow? To deliver value and live the purpose?

Well, I guess it took so long as I have not been ready. And after chats with many wantpreneurs and excuse-seekers I know I am not alone. Therefore I want to dedicate this very first post to all the entrepreneurial thinkers and dreamers, recruiters and sellers on stop playing business and actually start doing business. First of all I believe we are not ready, never WILL be, and that’s fine. The best time to do whatever it is we want to do is NOW. There is no better time than today.

Here are 7 tips to think about your own journey.

  1. You don’t need to go “all in” to get real

Getting real does not necessarily mean to quit your job and start your own company. Absolutely not. But getting real means to commit to whatever it is you are doing and try to accomplish it. This could mean to have the goal to become a top biller. Getting real would mean in this case to set the goal “becoming a top biller”. Second, define this goal, make it SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bounded), get concrete. Third, make an action plan, commit to it and work it.

  1. You have to be your own biggest believer and supporter

The truth is everyone is living his or her own life. Everyone is busy with their own stuff. If you do not believe in yourself how you can expect anyone to pause their life to embrace your greatness? As long as you make your self-worth dependent from what everyone else thinks you will fall over with at the first obstacle and throw the towel. Believe in yourself, accept your flaws and get excited. It’s your life, your choices, live it the way you want it to live. We all have one shot and you know yourself best. You can! Just do it. And then, after you believed in yourself others will follow. You will find supporters along the way. That’s amazing but believe and support in yourself first. You are your longest commitment after all.

  1. Coming up with ideas is easy, implementation is hard

Yes, we all have many, many amazing ideas. A lot of them. But guess what they are worth unless brought to life – nothing. Having ideas is easy. The implementation, the execution of your ideas, is the hard bit. You need the courage to do it. It will take time, it will be hard and you will possible even curse that you have started but in the end it will be super rewarding to have accomplished it.

  1. No one is you and this is your super power

Yes, other people are in the business. You have competition. Especially when you work in sales or recruitment you will have a lot of competition. But no one is you! No one sells the way you do, no one speaks the way you do, and no one thinks the way you do. You are unique.  This is your super power. Use it. Make it personal and be you. The only competition you should take absolutely serious is yourself while becoming the best possible version of yourself.

  1. Get it done – reduce the time between decision and actual action

OK, so you made the decision to chase a goal, made an action plan and know you can do it? Then it’s time to get real! Reduce the time between decision made to chase the goal and the implementation of actual action. This does not mean you should just ran with no thought at all but it does mean you should not overthink things. Doubt kills more dreams as failure ever will! Lose your excuses! We all have the same amount of time in a day. We don’t need to be immensely talented as hustle always beats talent when talent isn’t working hard. We all can sacrifice some spare, otherwise wasted hours or at least work smarter.

  1. Keep it up

You probably guessed it – consistency is another point. Yes, you’ll have to keep it up. As already mentioned above, there is no such thing as overnight success. The most successful people have been rejected a couple of times and have failed. To reach your goal you will need to work towards it daily. You will need to commit and you will need to priorities. FOCUS – Follow One Course Until Successful!

  1. Enjoy the journey

It can be a long journey, so you better enjoy the ride and have some fun. As you haven’t reached your goal yet you won’t know whether it will make you happy. So you better enjoy the journey and create the life you love. Enjoy! And if I can be of any help – please let me know.
